“The fate of humanity depends on our learning to reconceive our challenges.”
Hi friends.
Despite what you may see in your Linkedin feed, reimagining work goes far beyond "hybrid work" – it is a fundamental reconsideration of what it means to be human. I’d like to explore this with you, and because I so enjoyed hosting a live presentation and conversation a few weeks ago, I thought I’d do it again.
On Sunday October 3rd I’ll be hosting “A Convergence of Crisis and our Construct of Work.”
In this talk I'll tease out how many of the crisis we face today – climate catastrophe, social fragmentation, economic insecurity, political polarization – are actually rooted in our social construct of work and productivity. From Puritan ethics to industrialization, the "organization man" of the post war years to Silicon Valley hustle culture, we'll see how modern notions of selfhood have become inextricably tied to economic output. Finally, we'll discuss what I believe to be the keystone in our efforts to build a future that doesn't look like the past – a future of equity, shared prosperity, and creativity.
This event is completely free. I hope you’ll join us.
With gratitude, –Joel.
