The water said to me

Dear cousin

I am immensurable

And infinite with

Witness to all that is lost

And testament to all

That will be

I dance with density

And mass and breath

And in and out

You cannot hold me

But I have cradled you

Your entire life while

The shadow of my whisper

Saline scaffolds and patina

Sink under the folds of

Your becoming

So let me touch your face
